How Yeastar Cloud Streaming Music On Hold helps businesses keep callers engaged, with less work for IT.
When a business moves its telephone system to the cloud, it expects greater flexibility, easier administration, and better communications. But one important feature is sometimes overlooked: Music On Hold.
Many cloud phone systems still rely on audio files that must be uploaded and manually replaced whenever music or messages change. Fortunately, Yeastar Cloud offers something better: live-streaming Music On Hold.
This capability allows businesses to deliver continuously changing music and messages to callers without repeatedly replacing audio files.

Yeastar Cloud Streaming Music On Hold
The Yeastar P-Series Cloud PBX supports two methods of delivering Music On Hold:
- File-based audio: MP3 or WAV files are stored on the phone system and played when callers are placed on hold.
- Live streaming audio: The phone system connects to an external audio stream using a URL, allowing music and messages to be managed independently of the PBX.
With live streaming, the telephone system receives an ongoing audio program from a service such as Easy On Hold®. The music and messages can change without requiring the telephone administrator to make updates to the PBX.
Yeastar documents this feature in its P-Series Cloud Edition Music On Hold setup guide.
Why Streaming Is Better for Callers
The biggest advantage of streaming isn’t simply convenience for the business. It’s the experience of the person waiting on the telephone.
Less repetition. Traditional audio files often repeat the same recorded sequence. Callers may hear the same introduction or first message every time they call. A live stream offers more variety, with music and messages rotating throughout the day.
More relevant information. Businesses can share seasonal promotions, important announcements, product information, and service updates. With Easy On Hold’s Content Control Center™, messages can be scheduled by date, day of the week, or time of day.
Fresher content. Announcements can automatically begin or expire according to their schedules. A promotion that ends Friday doesn’t need to keep playing the following Monday.
A more engaging wait. Instead of hearing silence or a short, repetitive recording, callers receive a professionally managed program of licensed music and useful information.

A Great Example: IZT Cloud Makes the Switch in Under an Hour
We recently had the opportunity to work with IZT Cloud, a telecommunications and cloud services provider offering cloud voice and unified communications solutions.
IZT Cloud operates its own version of the Yeastar-based telephone platform. When a mutual customer needed to move to Easy On Hold’s live streaming service, the IZT Cloud team made the transition in less than one hour. That’s impressive, and exactly the kind of knowledgeable, responsive technical support businesses should expect from their communications provider.
The customer gained the ability to receive a changing program of music that requires streaming delivery due to copyright laws. IZT Cloud demonstrated how quickly a capable service provider can put Yeastar’s streaming functionality to work.
We appreciate IZT Cloud’s expertise and willingness to help our mutual customer take advantage of a better Music On Hold solution.
Easier for IT. More Control for Marketing.
Live streaming also changes how a business manages its on-hold content.
With traditional file-based Music On Hold, changing a message often involves producing a replacement recording, delivering it to the telephone administrator, and uploading it into the PBX.
Streaming separates those responsibilities.
Once a streaming playlist is configured in Yeastar, authorized users can manage their music and messages through Easy On Hold’s Content Control Center™.
That means businesses can:
- Schedule messages to begin and end automatically.
- Rotate multiple message topics to reduce repetition.
- Update announcements without recurring PBX file uploads.
- Manage different audio programs for departments or locations, where the phone system’s playlist assignments permit.
- Keep licensed music and professionally produced messages current.
The result is fewer routine requests for IT and greater flexibility for the people responsible for communicating with customers.
How to Enable Streaming Music On Hold in Yeastar Cloud
Yeastar provides a straightforward setup process for the P-Series Cloud Edition.
- Log in to the Yeastar PBX administration portal.
- Navigate to PBX Settings > Voice Prompt > Music on Hold.
- Select Create New Playlist.
- Choose Streaming Music as the playlist type.
- Give the playlist a name and enter the streaming URL supplied by Easy On Hold.
- Select Save, then Apply.
- Under Prompt Preferences, select the streaming playlist for Music On Hold, then save and apply the changes.
Finally, place a test call and verify that the intended callers hear the stream.
Yeastar documents support for up to five streaming Music On Hold playlists in the P-Series Cloud Edition. Available assignments can depend on the PBX configuration and call path. The stream must also remain accessible to the PBX for audio to play.
Choosing a Cloud Phone System? Ask About Streaming.
Not all cloud telephone systems provide the same Music On Hold capabilities.
Some accept only uploaded audio files. Others support live streaming, allowing a business to provide more varied, timely, and centrally managed caller audio.
Yeastar Cloud is a good example of a platform that recognizes the value of this capability.
And as our experience with IZT Cloud shows, implementing it doesn’t necessarily require a complicated project. With the right provider, a live streaming Music On Hold program can be put into service quickly.
The takeaway: When evaluating a new business telephone system, don’t ask only whether it supports Music On Hold. Ask whether it supports live streaming Music On Hold.
That one distinction can make a meaningful difference in what your callers hear and how easily your business keeps them informed.
